The Shock of 9-11 began the collaboration of a new kind for Julie Renee as she joined forces with a Pakistani Preforming group. Touring one year in the world peace tour ~ Inspiring peace through music, these incredible inspiring Rumi love poems were preformed throughout the west in the Islamic Embassy’s and at the Biltmore for Pakistani independence day.
Reflecting on the shock of the 9-11 atrocity Julie Renee said: ‘I could only respond in compassion and a desire to sooth the pain of the peoples of the world. I in my mind kept telling God ~ oh my God do you know what has happened?? And finally like an exasperated parent I received a yes and an explanation about the disaster. I began to hold meditation meetings in my home. One thing lead to another a friend introduced me to a violinist from Pakistan who also wanted to work for peace and an idea was formed in the first meeting. We had both felt Jaladine Rumi Call to us to bring his poetry of peace, love and understanding into the world in this troubled era. I called Coleman Barks who is the foremost translator of Rumi Poetry and got his permission to record as spoken word his incredible translations.”
Recorded in Washington DC within weeks of the 9-11 disaster ‘The Message’ is a beautiful tribute to a Christian and a Muslim joining together to create great beauty and show the world that it is possible to hold hands despite religious differences
During my collaborations and study with Ustad I was honored with the distinction of Musicalogist from the Dehli Gharana
